Apply For Your Ohio Medical Marijuana Card Today

What is a Medical Marijuana Card?

A medical marijuana card (also known as an “MMID” or “cannabis card”) is a form of identification that allows patients to access medical dispensaries (also known as “cannabis clubs”) and purchase marijuana to treat their condition or symptoms. It also permits patients to produce their cannabis at home and employ medical marijuana delivery services.

The state issues the cards, but to qualify, the patient must first obtain a signed referral from a registered physician. The patient and the doctor must agree that cannabis is a viable treatment choice, and the patient’s condition must be one that the state has approved. Following the doctor’s recommendation, the patient must apply with the state and pay a fee, which varies by state. Because cannabis is federally illegal, doctors are unable to simply prescribe it to patients.
